Second Feasibility Study Call

Up to £20,000 available for feasibility study projects to further broaden the knowledge base in intelligent automation within the manufacturing industry.

Parties interested in applying for the grant should read the attached document carefully for full details on eligibility, requirements and application process.

  • Short-term funding for projects with a budget of up to £20,000 (80% fEC)
  • Application deadline: 28 July 2015
  • Assessment panel: late August 2015
  • Grant announcement: 01 September 2015
  • Start date between 15 September and 15 October 2015
  • Projects must end 6 months after the start date

EPSRC Manufacturing the Future Conference 2015

The 4th Manufacturing the Future Conference will be held at Churchill College, Cambridge, on the 17-18 September 2015.  The conference presents the latest manufacturing research delivered by the academic community in collaboration with UK industry.  Sponsored by the EPSRC’s Manufacturing the Future Theme, the objective is to provide a forum through which academic and industrial communities engaged in manufacturing research, development and implementation can meet to present their latest research outputs, share their ideas, exchange best practice and discuss topics of importance to the community.  The overall aim being to further develop the UK’s position in high value and high impact manufacturing research.

FIRST LEGO League Regional Finals 2014

As always we had a lot of fun at our regional competition! Eighteen teams from across the region participated in this fabulous event.

FIRST LEGO League Regional Competition Update

We have just concluded two regional FLL competitions held on consecutive days.  It was tons of fun, but also an incredible amount of work. Thank you to Loughborough University for being brilliant hosts and to all the volunteers who helped make these two events so successful. We could not have done this without you!

Team Invicta - FIRST LEGO League World Champions

Team Invicta are FIRST LEGO League World Champions. Congratulations to our UK entrant. The EPSRC Centre is proud to support UK STEM through FIRST LEGO League and it is wonderful to have a UK Champion for the second year running.

National Science and Engineering Week Fair

The EPSRC Centre ran another successful exhibition stand today, for the National Science and Engineering Week Fair at Loughborough University. Great attendance with lots of interest in our interactive exhibits. NAO was the star of the show again and our new LEGO Mindstorms challenge proved to be very popular.

Big Bang Near Me

The EPSRC Centre today had the best rated exhibition stand (scoring 95/100) at the Big Bang Near Me event held at Market Bosworth School. This was an excellent day and very well organised. We now have a number of core exhibits ready for use on STEM exhibition stands, including the NAO, LEGO Mindstorms and an ABB IRB120 small industrial robot. Team Invicta - National FIRST LEGO League champions

Congratulations to Team Invicta. Overall champions of the National FIRST LEGO League competition, hosted by the EPSRC Centre at Loughborough University. Team Invicta will now be heading to the World Championships in April. FIRST LEGO League Final Held At Loughborough University

The EPSRC Centre hosted a regional FIRST LEGO League Final at Loughborough University. This was a fantastic event attended by incredibly impressive teams. Awards went to St Bots: Project, Beauchamp College: Robot Design, Caludon 3: Core Values and Quigley’s Angels: Robot Game. The overall winners were Disaster Dudes / Dudettes and Bakewell Roboteers who will be back in February for the National Final.
